Reggie NelsonAt the very heart of CIS is our commitment to bringing responsible, caring adults into the lives of children.

Volunteers help our students to stay in school and achieve in life by providing supportive relationships for students during the school day through a variety of roles.  Below are our Volunteer Opportunities for Individuals and Groups/Companies.  If you are interested in volunteering or would like to know more, please complete our Volunteer Interest Form (or click button below).  Questions? INDIVIDUAL Volunteer Opportunities

Mentor

Develop a relationship to help encourage growth, build confidence, and improve interpersonal skills.
Commitment is weekly or biweekly for 30 minutes to an hour.

Tutor

Support with schoolwork and learning goals, may focus on one area depending on student need.
Commitment is weekly or biweekly for 30 minutes to an hour.

School Aide

Provide support to a CIS Site Coordinator, assist with programming and projects. 
Commitment level is flexible.

College/Career Coach

Support college and career activities (workshops, field trips, etc.)
Commitment level depends upon activities.

Event Specialist

Help prepare, execute, and clean up after special events.
Commitment level is flexible.

Volunteer opportunities for Companies/Groups

Lead a Student Experience

Host or lead a college or career readiness workshop (mock interviews, resume writing, etc., or job shadow experience.

Host a Drive

Work with our Volunteer and Resource Coordinator to host a drive for needed items.

Classroom Readers

Provide a fun reading experience for 10-15 minutes in an elementary school classroom. 

College/Career Coach

Support college and career activities (workshops, field trips, etc.)
Commitment level depends upon activities.

Assist with an Event

Pre-event pre and/or on-site assistance, field days, family engagement events, celebrations, and more.

School Staff Appreciation

Bring coffee and doughnuts, or another small treat for school staff; work with CIS Site Coordinators to plan and hand-out.


Student Greeters

Enthusiastically welcome students to school in the morning, between 7:15 – 9:15 am, depending on the school.
